Keep Your Heart Strong Towards God

God tells us in Hebrews 11:6(NKJV) that not having faith in Him doesn’t please Him. This verse states, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” This is a verse that must be seared in our consciousness, especially when it comes to the manifestation of our desires. Another is 2Chronicles 16:9(NLT). It states, “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.” The combination of both these beauties paint a brilliant portrait of the connection between the potency of our faith and the condition of our hearts toward God.

In 2Chronicles 16:9, we can see that our loving and all-powerful Heavenly Father is incredibly meek towards us. It is we who should be seeking Him diligently in all that we do, but instead, in this verse, He is the One looking throughout the whole earth, searching for individuals that have hearts that are strong for Him. A strong heart is a heart that is fully committed to God. This doesn’t mean that you and I have perfect hearts or that we are perfect in all our dealings. We are in fact imperfect people, but we are being perfected daily by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Many of us become very weary in well doing. We allow ourselves to become inflexible to changing our hearts and minds the way Jesus Christ commands.

Life is very dynamic. It is not meant to support our comfort of being the same person we were two years ago, two months ago, or two weeks ago. God expects us to be continually growing and abounding in Christ. This means that as we hear more knowledge and revelation about him, we examine whether we are measuring up, and if we aren’t, then our responsibility is to correct and renew our minds to what we’ve learned. Some of us are resentful to renewing our minds because we don’t want to change, but anything that doesn’t grow will die. The need to change according to God’s requirement isn’t what causes our emotional and mental exhaustion. We become exhausted by the world’s programming in our minds, and then we want to blame God for it. The Word doesn’t exhaust us, it transforms us. We have a duty to line up our minds with the mind of Christ.

Our refusal to be attentive to spiritual growth and maturity will disconnect us from the blessings that require the spiritual strength to reach out and grab them. But having a heart that is loyal to God means that we are fully committed to obey Him, and this increases our faith and opens the door to the manifestation of blessings. A full commitment to God means that we understand that the work of our souls is part of our life’s work, and we will yield ourselves to Heavenly Father to get it done. We must do this because there is no other way to become who He created us to be without Him helping us confront and correct the things that betray our identity in Christ. So, a strong heart towards God means that we will humbly submit to the guidance of His Spirit, and we will be teachable and flexible to His Will. This requires us to let Him lead and we follow.

Another extremely important part of our work as sons and daughters of God is to partner with Him to get some things done in the earth. Jesus Christ has given us our mission, and it is to continue his work by bringing people back to God. This is the good work that represents our fruit. We must have the courage to ask ourselves if we are producing fruit by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. People don’t need to hear our opinions and assumptions. They need to hear the Word of God. They desperately need the truth, especially in this hour. If you’re not feeling especially strong in this area, you have your assignment. It is to do all you can to become strong in God’s Word.

If you are well-seasoned in the Word, and believe yourself to be strong in it, you must have the courage to answer James’s challenge of James 2:18, which is to prove our faith by the fruit we’ve produced. God’s Word is the most powerful and potent weapon we have. It isn’t latent. It’s transformative and transcendent. It is impossible to know and trust it without producing results that equal its potency. That is what fruit is all about. It is planting the seed of God’s Word in the lives of people, praying for them, and witnessing how God grows what He has allowed you to plant. And the Word, the seed, you, the person you witnessed to, the opportunity to plant, and everything else, it all comes from Him. We supply none of it. It all comes from God and all is attributed to His glory.

When our hearts are strong towards God, we will come to Him realizing who He is and recognizing that He is beyond delighted to bless us.He is all-powerful and all-knowing, and our faith in His goodness moves the manifestation process along, because that is how God designed it to work. We must have a heart that fully embraces Jesus Christ as the head of our lives. Through his Spirit, he leads and guides us in the Will of God so that we receive all that Heavenly Father has in store. We’re not perfect, but we are being perfected in Christ as we submit to him in humility. He is preparing us for higher spiritual heights, and we have the phenomenal privilege to watch our blessings manifest through our fully persuaded and sold-out faith in him.■
