Seek God for A Plan

Ephesians 1:11 is a verse that continues to play out in my head like a recording. Talk about hitting a point home, Heavenly Father is making sure that I hammer this one in the minds and hearts of all those who will hear me. Over the course of the last few weeks, the indwelling Holy Spirit has been teaching me about this word ‘predestined’, and I’ve come to understand that we cannot grasp even a modicum of this verse’s meaning without truly delving into the brilliant magnificence of God’s intelligence. Ephesians 1:11 affirms that He wove a plan in the very beginning, before the foundation of the world, that included the destinies of every single one of His children. You and I would cheat ourselves out of the most delectable treat if we didn’t take the time to explore what this reveals about the triumphs and successes we can expect in life. It also blows to smithereens any doubt about the fact that God has a specific and unique purpose for each of us.

Ephesians 1:11(NIV) tells us, “In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,” Immediately, the one takeaway that we should conclude from reading this verse is that God is so awesome that He devised a plan of which the end was known in the beginning. There is no possible way that the end result of God’s plan would be less than perfect. If God says that something is going to come to pass, it’s a done deal, a fait compli.

You can see how a person that has a mindset of fear would miss out on their destinies. They’d interpret difficulties in life as God punishing them. They might forever believe that they are behind the eight ball, and that God’s plan is for them to fail and to be looked down upon. You see, once you allow this line of thought in your heart, you will begin to attract people, relationships, and conditions that match your negative outlook.

1John 4:18(NIV) says, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” God has a plan for our lives, and within this plan we will find our purpose. There is no fear or failure in God’s plan, we can rest assured of this. His plan for each of us is magnificent!

Walking outside of God’s purpose, it’s a sure bet that things will not work for us. On the flip side, fulfilling our purpose will cause us to be in harmony and alignment with a plethora of blessings. We have to put our skepticism and cynicism all the way on the back burner, and cease and desist with making this such a complicated area of our spiritual walks. Again, God has a plan for our lives, and He guarantees that if we seek Him, He will ensure that the details beautifully unfold.

God is a God of order. There’s a hierarchy of importance that must be followed. This is why Matthew 6:33(KJV) is such an extremely critical verse for our spiritual walks. Jesus Christ commanded, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Sometimes, we seek our failures first. We keep trying to get right the thing that should have been cut off years ago. Leave it alone. Come center to the place where there is only you and a point of seeking Heavenly Father; allowing everything else to fall away from what you have deemed urgent in your life. Urgency, in many respects, is defined as you and I becoming too consumed with what we want. We find ourselves so attached to the outcome of things, when God has totally made it plain to us that this is His territory, and His alone. Destiny is in His very capable hands. He knew from the beginning what would be at the end. So here’s a thought, even if only for a season, let your plan fall to the wayside, and let God deliver to you a new one.

Seek God for a plan through peace and yielding. Trust that He will speak to you in the quietness of your submission. Trust that He will lead and guide you. He knows where you need to be, when you need to be there, and how to get you there. He will not forget the desires of your heart, but the things that have troubled you in the past must be kept there; in the past. Newness awaits, so be patient and humble as God guides you to it!■
