No Problem Is Too Big for God

Sometimes, several things can go wrong in life at the same time, and if you’re already not in a good head and heart space, things can feel extremely overwhelming. There can be issues at your job, in your significant relationship, and with your finances, all hitting you at once. Our first inclination is to worry or panic. Many of us have believed that we are where we are in life because of our own talents, skills, and abilities. We think we’re the glue that holds everything together, and when this confidence is broken down to its lowest denominator, we then can see the raw material of our lives. It becomes clear very quickly that we don’t have what it takes to hold everything together. This is a truth that many can’t digest, and they suffer miserably because of it. God offers us an exponentially better solution.

God tells us in Ephesians 4:23 to renew our minds. This is an important spiritual practice, and it is a requirement that never stops. If we’re serious about our spiritual journey in Christ, we will consistently be immersed in this process. It is one that requires us to be observant of the thoughts we think. It can be challenging to do this when we feel powerless against our own emotions. With so much coming at us, our go-to feelings of discouragement, sadness, and even self-pity will kick in. We settle into these because it’s what we’ve always done. One of things we should consider is whether this pattern has been helpful at all. If it hasn’t, the solution is in what God tells us to do in Ephesians 4:23, which is to interrupt old patterns that are not working for us and change the way we think.

2Corinthians 10:5 gives us the methodology. It tells us to capture the thoughts that don’t align with the mind of Christ. This means we examine them, make a judgement call on whether they line up with what Jesus teaches, then God instructs us to teach those thoughts to obey Christ. We do this all the time in other areas of our lives. We’re taught as early as pre-school to train our minds to think and accept what our teachers tell us. We don’t always know that everything we’re being taught in school is correct, but we follow along like a sponge, because an authority figure has told us to. There is no higher authority than God, and when it comes to His truth, there can be no doubt. His Word is true. So, we must renew our minds to it so that Jesus Christ can help us transform from the inside out.

When our soul believes something that is contrary to what God says, a kind of fragmentation sets in. If unchecked, it grows, and our external reality will begin to mirror our inner reality. The wisdom of Philippians 4:6(NLT) tells us, “Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Some of us see this and think, “Don’t worry! How can you not worry when everything is such a mess.” The Creator of the universe is commanding us not to worry. Therefore, you and I can know that worrying is a choice. We can not do it, which is what God commands, or we can do it. Because of how many of us have been conditioned and programmed, worrying has become a habit. When things get out of control, we get out of control with them, and worry takes control. God wants us to know that we can move in another direction and we should.

Jesus Christ said in Matthew 6:33 that we must seek God and His Kingdom first, before we seek any other thing. Instead of thinking thoughts that lead us down a dark, gloomy path, we can renew our minds, and shift our attention and focus to the One that has all the answers and solutions. Heavenly Father tells us to pray about everything. This isn’t a suggestion. God invites us to pray to Him about anything that is on our hearts. And not only this, He gives us a way to seal the prayer with the right attitude of faith by telling us to thank Him for all He has done.

We must never withhold thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father. You can’t fake this. If you don’t believe that God’s Word is true and that He loves you with an everlasting love; if you don’t believe that He is all good and there’s no darkness in Him at all, then you probably are not going to be able to rally a sincere gratitude. But if you do believe the truth of God’s Word, then you’ll have faith that God hears your prayers and He only desires the best for you. Faith is the title deed to what we’ve prayed for. It’s knowing that God doesn’t bless us because we’re so good, but because He’s so good. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 7:11(NLT), “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” We can go to God in the name of Jesus Christ with anything that is on our hearts, and we must trust that He will our problems no matter how big they may seem.
